VU Women in Tech Conference
Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Villanova University
The first annual VU Women in Tech Conference featured a robust line-up of 18 speakers, attracted over 130 attendees and participation in the NCWIT Sit With Me campaign. Karen Mazer, Principal, Technology Strategy & Architecture, Deloitte Consulting LLP delivered the keynote speech. Karen identified herself as an "accidental technologist" who attributed much of her success to her technology background. She also stressed the importance of mentorship and shared how her mentor encouraged her to invest in herself. Technology has had a profound effect on our personal lives and industry alike, she shared, providing women with an extraordinary opportunity. “This is an incredible time for all of you,” she said in closing, “because everything I just talked about has really happened in the last 20 years or so, and it’s from people like you who’ve had passion, who’ve dreamt big, who had a vision.”
