Madelyn Rose Sanfilippo is an Assistant Professor in the School of Information Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, affiliated with the Illinois Informatics Institute and the Center for Global Studies, as well as the multi-institution Workshop on Governing Knowledge Commons. Her mixed methods research explores governance of sociotechnical systems, prioritizing understanding of governance success, failure, and externalities to empirically ground future policy and decision-making in tech and data governance approaches that prioritize social good. She teaches courses on data governance, social aspects of information technology, and privacy.
