Monique St. John
Monique St. John has more than 20 years of experience in Information Technology with extensive depth in the areas of infrastructure, enterprise applications, service delivery and optimization, technology operations and project management.
Currently, Ms. St. John is the Chief Technology and Security Officer (CTSO) at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). The CTSO is a blended role consisting of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) responsibilities. Ms. St. John has the responsibility for technology strategy, implementation and support services for a world class pediatric healthcare system. Additionally, she is responsible for financial performance and management of $50M annual operating and capital budgets.
Ms. St. John is a collaborative leader with the ability to understand strategic business requirements, analyze needs holistically, and translate into actionable plans to deliver technology solutions successfully. She partners closely with clinical and business departments to ensure the voice of the customer is heard and technical solutions meet requirements, always asking what solution is in the best interest of patients, families and CHOP.
Earlier in her career Ms. St. John was a consultant for a national technology firm where she provided professional services involving systems administration, engineering and operations. Her career in information technology has been progressive, beginning as a Help Desk Analyst and providing deskside support for local businesses. Ms. St. John also spent a portion of her career as a social service agent, managing care and services for disadvantaged persons in the Philadelphia area.
Monique has remained true to her roots in social services, and was instrumental in forging a partnership with the Homeless Health Initiative (HHI) and assembling a volunteer team of Information Services staff to provide technology engineering and support services. This work included an electronic medical record buildout for HHI and partnering with an external vendor to donate technology devices to support capturing medical history and related data from HHI clients.
Ms. St. John holds ITIL and PMP certifications. She is an active member of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) and Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS). She attended CHIME CIO Boot Camp and received a certificate from the Harvard University T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Leadership Strategies for Information Technology in Health Care in 2016. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Saint Joseph’s University.
Monique enjoys the outdoors, is a supporter of the national parks and is an avid open water swimmer. She swam miles in the Atlantic Ocean and has participated in the escape from Alcatraz swim event in the San Francisco Bay. Ms. St. John resides in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
